Yesterday, leading community college network Achieving the Dream announced a collaboration with Echo360 to explore which student behaviors and pedagogical strategies may be levered for greater student persistence and completion.
“Achieving the Dream puts a significant focus on teaching and learning as the critical lever of change for improving student success. This new project is one of the ways we’re supporting our network colleges to move the needle for students,” said Dr. Karen A. Stout, President and CEO of Achieving the Dream. “Echo360’s Active Learning Platform enables community colleges to track and continuously improve student persistence and completion outcomes. Our goal is to provide more actionable strategies that help community colleges ensure that more students are successfully meeting their educational goals.”
Echo360 CEO Fred Singer was featured in this article on Inside Higher Ed, When the Only Seat is in Front of a Screen. Fred noted that in the future, lecture capture systems need to do much more than just capture usage statistics, i.e. the number of times a video has been viewed. In addition to allowing students ask questions, lecture capture systems can be used to capture other student behavior: are they taking notes, how many notes are they taking, are they asking questions, are they confused or do they understand the material?
There is still time to register to attend our upcoming Active Learning Conference in Los Angeles. Attendees will hear how other institutions around the world use Echo360. Here’s a brief look at one of the scheduled presentations, Improving Student Participation in Large Lecture Classes.
Attendees will also get an inside look at our Active Learning Platform and how it combines the best of lecture capture, student engagement tools and learning analytics in a single, easy-to-use cloud-based platform.
